Since 1907, The Portland Rose Festival has celebrated sunshine, fun and flowers!  The founders wanted Portland, Oregon to be known as the “Summer Capital of the World”.  It began with the Rose Parade but now includes 3 weeks of events, multiple parades, athletic events, musical events and more.  

CityFair : Kick off The Rose Festival with a dance party at the Waterfront!  CityFair opens Friday, May 27 at 5 p.m. at The Governor Tom McCall Waterfront Park. A firework display begins at about 9 pm.  There are vocal performances before and after the fireworks. City Fair continues to be open for 3 additional weekends.  Tickets are $8 for those 7 yo and older.  A discount ticket for all weekends is available. Read here,  , for more information.

Portland General Electric / Solve Starlight Parade :  Enjoy a summer evening with a unique light parade.  Beginning at 8:30 pm and running until 11:00 on June 4, 2016. There are more than 100 floats that are filled with lights.  Plus marching bands and general revelry!  Surprisingly, this event is a very old Portland tradition.  It began as lit floats were built on electric trolley cars!  The floats would loop around the city on the electric trolley car tracks.

The 128th Annual Spring Rose Show: The Portland Rose Society produces this flower show.  It  is the longest running flower show in the United States!  This free event is hosted by The Lloyd Center.  June 9, 2016 from 1pm - 9 pm.  June 10, 2016 from 10 am to 5 pm.

The Portland Rose Festival Dragon Boat Races: The Portland Kaohsiung Sister City Association manages this popular event on the Willamette River near the Hawthorne Bridge.  This free event features local, national and international teams that compete approximately  every 10 minutes.  Located at the Tom McCall Waterfront Park, South end.  June 11 and June 12, 2016 from 9 am - 5 pm.

The Spirit Mountain Casino Grand Floral Parade : Parade begins at 10 am at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum.  The Coliseum provides covered seating as well as indoor seating.Tickets for the Saturday, June 11,2016 are available via .

 The Grand Floral Float Showcase.  Here you will be able to get a close look at the floats.  They will be available for viewing after the parade.  Saturday, June 6 from 3 - 10 pm.  Sunday, June 7 from 11a.m. to 10 p.m.  The floats will be located on SW Naito Parkway adjacent to the City Fair location.
