The Division Clinton neighborhood of SouthEast Portland is full of personality!  This neighborhood parallels  SE Division Street and SE Clinton Street between 12th and 52nd Avenue.  This is just South of the Hawthorne neighborhood.

There are many turn of the century homes in this neighborhood.  Clinton / Division is a walking neighborhood.  Parking for restaurants and shops is limited but no one seems to mind.  Riding your bike is the way to go!  The community is devoted to bicyclists and is considered a major transportation corridor for bicyclists. This area is also served well by the Trimet bus system.

Once you have arrived in the neighborhood there are many shopping and dining choices.  In fact, some locals consider this to be “ Restaurant Row”.  Highlights include:

  • Pok Pok, 3226 SE Division Street, is the original location.  This Thai restaurant now has locations in Los Angeles and New York. Pok Pok is a low key family style restaurant.

  • Nuestra Cocina, 2135 SE Division Street, is described as traditional peasant fare of Mexico.  Nuestra Cocina has a casual and warm atmosphere.  Cooking classes are available.

  • Bollywood Theatre, 3010 SE Division Street, serves the “street food” of India as well as more traditional curry dishes. Bollywood is a casual dining restaurant that tries to recreate an authentic vibe.

  • Ava Genes, 3377 SE Division Street, delivers authentic tastes of Rome. The atmosphere is that of a lovely European cafe.

Food, vintage items and original designs stock the shops in the neighborhood. Image title

  • Langlitz Leather, 2443 SE Division Street, has been making custom leather motorcycle jackets for almost 70 years.

  • The Clinton Street Theatre, 2522 SE Clinton Street, dates from 1915.  This local landmark also has the distinction of having shown “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” every Saturday since 1978. A world record!

  • Mirador Kitchen and Home, 2106 SE Division Street, stocks a large selection of home canning and preserving supplies. This is the place to go for answers and equipment for everything from jam to jerkey!  Note: The neighborhood has the Clinton Community Garden at SE  18th and Clinton Street.

  • Tidbit Food Farm and Garden, 2880 SE Division Street, began as a collection of food carts.  It now includes food, produce stands, vintage shopping and a beer garden.

The community comes together for a Street Fair and Parade every July.. July 23, is the big day for 2016.  The parade begins at  10:45 am at SE 50th Ave and SE Division Street. There will be some street closures for the event. For more information: http://divisionclinton.com/the-division-clinton-street-fair/
